COMPANY DIRECTOR + DIRECTOR + SENIOR EDITOR

To say that Richie is experienced is an understatement.

Cast your mind back to 1987 when there were crazy things called film and video tape and that’s when Richie began his journey in the industry. Not long after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Drama) at Flinders University in 1991, Richie went and had a chat with Max Pepper at Pepper Studios, an Adelaide film & TV production institution. After a long lunch, he was on his way and started learning from the best in the business. Working with Marty Pepper and Aaron Gully, Richie’s skill set developed quickly from production assistant, set construction, studio camera, dubbing, to editor, telecine, senior editor, flame and director. All these different experiences were invaluable training and formed a solid base for the future.

Fast forward 10 years and in 2001 Merlin Post Production was formed and so began the Merlin journey. From humble beginnings, things have continued to grow with talented people joining the business and growing Merlin to where it is today.

There is a list as long as your arm of corporate and retail TV commercials over the years that Richie can say “yep, we did that” but we won’t bore you with those details here.

While Richie is the most senior of the team, he is still definitely young at heart and will often be found as the last Merlin team member standing at social functions or trying to convince the rest of the crew that it’s actually not late and if you’re late in the morning, he knows the boss… we are not sure if that’s a good thing or not!!

After over 30 years in the film & TV production industry, Richie feels that he is one of the lucky ones in the world who loves his job and wants to keep playing in this dream world forever.
